NATCHEZ — A 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg Monday evening on Broadmoor Drive, but police have been unable to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Adams County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Jerry Brown said deputies were dispatched to Merit Health Natchez after hospital staff reported a gunshot wound victim.

The teen suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh, but gave conflicting stories to deputies about what happened, Brown said.

“His first story was that a black Impala pulled up, and the driver got out with a ski mask on and shot him,” Brown said. “Then, it changed to two guys in a black Impala, and the passenger got out and shot him.”

The victim called a friend to transport him to the hospital, but would not tell deputies who it was, Brown said.

The victim also gave deputies two different areas of Broadmoor Drive where the alleged shooting occurred.

“He’s just not cooperating at all,” Brown said.
