NATCHEZ — Adams County and Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries search and rescue teams located two missing men shortly after 10 a.m. today. The pair had been missing since Wednesday night.
Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said Jimmy “JJ” Pruitt, 53, and Stephen White, 49, went searching for 13 missing cows owned by Pruitt at approximately 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on Tate Road.
A relative reported the men missing Thursday, saying it was unlike them to not return home, especially since their wallets and other valuables were left at home.
Patten said the men took four-wheelers to look for the cows, and the four-wheelers were washed away in a creek after heavy rainfall and storms in the area. Patten said the men were trapped by the rushing creek water off Moss Grove Road and could not make their way back home.
The men will be checked out by medical staff, but do not appear to be injured, Patten said.
“It’s just been two long and cold nights for them,” he said.
