NATCHEZ — Storms and heavy rain moved through the area Monday, causing power outages in the area, but officials reported no major damage.
Approximately an inch of rain fell in Adams County as a storm moved through the area spurring a tornado warning Monday afternoon.
Meteorologist Latrice Maxie with the National Weather Service in Jackson said NWS received reports of downed trees, likely attributed to strong thunderstorm wind.
Adams County Emergency Management Director Robert Bradford said possible rotation in the clouds were reported in the Stanton area, but nothing was reported on the ground.
Bradford said the majority of damage reported Monday was downed trees and power lines, with a tree blocking both lanes of U.S. 61 South at one point. No structural damage was reported, he said.
Bradford said he was also checking the outdoor weather alert siren on Cloverdale Road at Lower Woodville Road after reports that it did not sound to warn of Monday’s tornado warning.
Entergy Customer Service Manager Tim Runnels said Monday night approximately 150 customers were without power in the Morgantown and Greenfield Subdivision area, with 60 in Morgantown and others scattered throughout the county.
Entergy expected to restore power by sometime Monday night, Runnels said.
The largest outage in the area occurred in Meadville, with 1,000 customers without power, Runnels said.
Though areas north of the Miss-Lou might see snow Friday, Maxie said the area’s forecast includes just light rain for now.
