Woman indicted for stealing checkbook, writing $29,000 in bad checks

NATCHEZ — A Natchez woman has been indicted for reportedly stealing a checkbook and writing approximately $29,000 in bad checks.
Mandy M. Halford, 35, 301 McNeely Road, Apt. 10-D, was booked into the Adams County Jail Monday for an indictment for felony false pretenses.
Natchez Police Sgt. Jerry Ford said Halford was arrested in May by the Natchez Police Department, charged with 14 counts of felony false pretenses and four counts of misdemeanor false pretenses.
Halford reportedly stole an acquaintance’s checkbook and wrote checks at various businesses in Natchez totaling $29,000.
Halford was released Monday from the Adams County Jail on a $38,000 bond.
