I have to go ‘out of town’ for comics

I would like to respond to two different articles that appeared in the “Our Opinion” section of The Natchez Democrat.
In the Nov. 30 edition of The Democrat, an opinion dealing with “mouse clicks” to order items online because of convenience of being able to have the products delivered to your door and also being able to order in your home, making it easy to order online.
The prior week to this particular opinion, it was suggested that the residents of our area should buy local in order to support the local economy.
While I do support our local economy by purchasing local, I seldom buy online. I am now forced to either read online or purchase an “out of town” newspaper in order to read the comics that I have enjoyed for many years. It is hard to accept the fact that I don’t get to enjoy the comics anymore and that The Democrat has let Snuffy Smith die.
We have been purchasing and reading The Democrat for over 50 years. On the plus side, I appreciate the fact that “our paper” is always delivered in a very timely manner. Thank you for that!
Most every day, my wife and I sit down in the mornings with a freshly brewed cup of coffee and our paper. It is a nice way to begin our day. Without the comics, we have lost a great value in newspaper content, and don’t have much to “chuckle” about.
Being forced to go online or to purchase an “out of town” paper seems to us that this leaves us with a double standard. It is my opinion that The Democrat should reinstate the comics, so we can read them in our local paper The Natchez Democrat.
