NATCHEZ — A Natchez teen turned himself into police and reportedly confessed to breaking into a Prince Street house and starting a fire that destroyed the house Tuesday.
Natchez Police Sgt. Jerry Ford said Dailan F. Gordon, 18, 211 Prince St., told police he got into an argument with his mother, left his house and went to a nearby unoccupied house in an attempt to get out of the cold weather. The vacant house was reportedly unlocked, Ford said.
Gordon reportedly confessed that he lit a couch in the house on fire in an effort to get warm, Ford said.
Firefighters responded to the fire around midnight Tuesday. No one was reported injured in the fire.
Gordon was charged Wednesday with burglary and arson.
He was being held Friday evening in the Natchez City Jail with a $75,000 bond.
