NATCHEZ — A Natchez man and woman have been arrested for reportedly burglarizing a Pearl Street house Tuesday.
Natchez Police Sgt. Jerry Ford said Dekasha Thompson, 20, 115 Ram Circle, and Antonio Smith, 36, 27 1/2 Elm St., were charged Thursday with burglary.
Thompson and Smith reportedly broke into a Pearl Street residence Tuesday and stole a television, purses, credit cards and other items, Ford said.
The homeowner contacted police upon realizing the house had been burglarized, Ford said, and a witness reported seeing a gold Malibu car stop at the residence, and a man and woman get out, go into the house and leave with boxes.
“They were able to give us a good description of the car and the people, and we were able to link (Thompson and Smith) to the crime,” Ford said.
A Natchez police officer had previously pulled over a car matching the description of the vehicle and recognized the vehicle and suspects.
Officers were able to recover some of the items stolen, including credit cards and jewelry.
Thompson and Smith were being held Thursday afternoon in the Natchez City Jail without a bond.
