NATCHEZ — Two businesses and one house burned in Natchez early Tuesday morning.
Wilde Tanning and Lingerie and Tower Loan, which are housed in the same building on John R. Junkin Drive, were destroyed in a fire. A third unoccupied space in the 8,000 square-foot building was also destroyed.
Natchez Fire Chief Aaron Wesley said the fire appears to have started in Wilde Tanning and Lingerie.
“The tanning salon had the most damage, so we think that’s where it started,” Wesley said.
The Natchez Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 6:35 a.m. Witnesses reported driving by the building at 6:20 a.m. and not seeing any indication of a fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown, Wesley said, and the state fire marshal is scheduled to arrive in Natchez today to conduct further investigation at the scene of the fire.
A vacant house on Prince Street was also destroyed in a fire shortly after midnight.
Wesley said the cause of the fire is unknown.
No was reported injured in either fire, Wesley said, and the fire department does not believe anyone was in the businesses or house at the time of the fires.
