Don’t bear to miss NACHS event

Bears, teddy bears, and more bears! What is a more wonderful way to celebrate the Christmas holidays than being surrounded by more teddy bears than you can count? This year, the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society will be holding two fundraiser parties, both on Saturday, Dec. 10, at gorgeous Green Leaves, located at 303 South Rankin St. in Natchez.

The humane society would like to especially thank Joie Morrison and the Koontz- Beltzhoover family for hosting both of these parties.

From 4 to 6 p.m., the Christmas Teddy Bear Adoption Party will be the first party for children accompanied by an adult.

A $5 donation per child and $15 donation per adult will be collected at the door. With an added donation to NACHS, guests will also have the opportunity to adopt a teddy bear — or more — from the more than 300 teddy bears available from the Green Leaves teddy bear collection of Virginia B. Morrison. We can’t wait for you to see all of these adorable teddy bears of every shape, size, and type, a teddy bear for everyone.

We will also have door prizes and light refreshments.
From 7 to 9 p.m., A Christmas Taste of Natchez Party will be the second party for the adults. A $30 donation per person will be collected at the door. Scrumptious hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be provided by our wonderful local chefs, Natchez Newcomers Club, and our devoted humane society volunteers. Cash bars will also be available. This will be a wonderful evening of delicious food and lots of fun, while helping our precious NACHS animals. If you would like to donate an hors d’oeuvres or dessert, please contact Marie Gasquet at 601-597-9350 as soon as possible.

In addition to the teddy bear adoption, we will have a silent auction with numerous items to choose from including artwork, home décor, exquisite wooden serving boards, china, gift baskets, Christmas décor and much more. What better time to purchase some Christmas gifts on your list, but don’t forget to also buy something for yourself! If you would like to donate a new item for our silent auction, please contact      Norma Gasquet-Williams at 410-812-2206 by Dec. 8.

Included in the admission price for either party is a narrated tour of Green Leaves, beautifully decorated for the holidays. This beautiful home has all of the original furnishings and family memorabilia as the descendants of the Koontz-Beltzhoover family have occupied the home since 1849.

All proceeds from both parties will benefit the homeless pets at the NACHS shelter, located at 475 Liberty Road in Natchez.  Since the humane society is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, all donations are tax deductible.

Why not start a monthly pledge donation as one of your New Year’s resolutions by completing the pledge form on our website at www.neatchezpetadoptions.org?

Donations can also be mailed to P.O. Box 549, Natchez, MS 39121-0549.

You can visit our website anytime or even better come see us at our new shelter. Just like the teddy bears, we have plenty of pets available for adoption and each of them would love to find a new home for the holidays! Please feel free to contact Susan Callon by email at suscallon@yahoo.com or by calling 601-660-5268, if you have any questions.

Please join us for this fun-filled evening of fellowship to help raise money for the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
