VIDALIA — An Alexandria man has been arrested after allegedly attempting to intimidate a Vidalia woman into dropping charges against a woman accused of allegedly pulling a gun on her.Nicko Lamar Baggett, 27, was arrested Tuesday on charges of public intimidation, simple criminal damage, two counts aggravated assault, two counts cyberstalking and resisting an officer.
Vidalia Police Department Investigator Miranda Clifton said the public intimidation stems from a Nov. 6 incident in which a Vidalia woman was allegedly threatened at gunpoint by Tia M. Crossgrove, 27, 1630 Azalea St.
Crossgrove allegedly followed the woman to her place of employment when she pulled away from a gas station. The complainant called the police, and as Crossgove was leaving the parking lot of where the complainant worked, officers initiated a traffic stop.
Clifton said during a search of the vehicle, a weapon that matched the description from the victim was found under the front seat.
Crossgrove was charged with aggravated assault, obstruction of justice and driving under a suspension.
Once Crossgrove was arrested, the victim reported she and one of her friends began receiving threatening text messages and phone calls allegedly from Baggett.
Baggett also allegedly went to the victim’s place of employment to ask her to drop the charges against Crossgrove.
When the victim arrived home from work, Clifton said she found a window shattered. As police arrived on the scene, the victim allegedly received a text message from Baggett stating her car was next.
An officer on scene reportedly spoke to Baggett when he called and asked him to discontinue threats and actions against the victim.
Clifton said Baggett refused to discontinue his threats and behavior against the victim and her friend, as they allegedly continued to receive threatening text messages and phone calls from him.
On Tuesday, with assistance from Concordia Parish Sherriff’s Office, Baggett was arrested at a residence on Azalea Street.
Baggett was in jail Friday afternoon on a $45,000 bond. Baggett is also under a Louisiana probation and parole hold.
