“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Thanksgiving is just around the corner. It’s a beloved holiday by all — a great time to gather with family and friends, loosen the belt a notch and feast away, turn on the TV and watch the Dallas Cowboys play or perhaps indulge in some college football. Thanksgiving is a time of tradition, and hopefully looking back over the past year, a time to give thanks for all that has been provided.
However, what if you didn’t have any traditions on Thanksgiving? What if you didn’t have the Thanksgiving meal of turkey, dressing, green bean casserole and more to enjoy? What if your family was too far away or you didn’t have family left to spend this holiday with?
New Covenant Presbyterian Church wants to be your family this Thanksgiving. All are welcome for this special event of outreach and love from our church family to yours. We aren’t targeting a specific audience, so anyone can come — from those in need to those blessed materially, we want you to have a Thanksgiving meal and take time to give praise and glory to God for making it all possible.
Come join us at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 130 Homochitto St. for a free Thanksgiving meal. After we eat, we will sing a few Thanksgiving hymns and hear a short Bible lesson. To-go boxes will be available after the service for an additional meal on Thanksgiving Day, and Bibles will be given away. If you would like to provide some turkey, dressing or chocolate cake/brownies, please call the church at 601-445-5010. We look forward to seeing anyone from the local area walk through our doors! All are welcome for this fun and festive event!
Seth Duhs is the pastor at New Covenant Presbyterian Church.
