Junior Auxiliary will be hosting Breakfast with the Grinch on Dec. 3 at the Duncan Park Canteen.

This will be our first year to host a breakfast for the community children to come out and have a fun morning filled with meeting the Grinch and story time while having their breakfast. There is a limited amount of tickets available for sale, and a ticket must be purchased in order to attend the breakfast. There are two time slots available to choose from — 8:30-9:30 a.m. or 9:45-10:45 a.m. There is a limited number of reservations for each time slot.

Tickets may be purchased at Anruss Salon or at the McLaurin Elementary School office.

You will need to bring the ticket stub with you to the breakfast. Only children are invited for the breakfast and can enter into the world of Whoville where they will be entertained by the Grinch.

Deadline to purchase tickets is Tuesday, Nov. 22. Parents and adults are invited to enjoy some free time shopping with all of our vendors that will be set up around the canteen building. Vendors are mostly local to the area, and there is something for everyone ranging from home baked goods, Christmas ornaments, wreaths and decorations, to cosmetics and body care, jewelry and Tupperware.

Lisa Whittington, of Ole Brook Photography, will join us to offer photos with the Grinch. The photos will be available on the spot and are available to anyone. Photos are not included in the purchase of the breakfast ticket. Photos will be $10 cash each.

Junior Auxiliary is a Christian Ladies organization first started back in the 50’s to help with children and meeting the needs of those less fortunate. Today, we strive and work hard to continue to meet those needs and live up to the standards first established by the original chapter. We are a non-profit organization that relies solely on our fundraising efforts or donations from the community by way of monetary donations or the donation of merchandise and goods which we will often use as part of our fundraisers. Our Duncan Park Canteen building is owned by the Junior Auxiliary and is available for daily or weekend rentals as another way of us raising funds, and the rentals help keep our building maintained.

Those funds are then used for us to put on community events such as the breakfast, be a part of the school systems, helping children in emergency situations where we can provide school uniforms or supplies, or any other place in a child’s life where we can fill in. Angel Tree is also another part of our Chapter and is currently going on with our tree being located at the Sergeant Prentiss location of Concordia Bank. Be sure to stop by and get your angel in time to bless a child’s life — and yours. Debra Allen is our project chairperson for Angel tree and is doing a remarkable job of updating and revamping the process of how our children are chosen. Debra is also working with me as co-chair for Breakfast with the Grinch.
