Cathedral High School fell behind 24-0 in the first quarter and was never able to climb out of the hole as it fell 59-16 to Manchester Academy in the opening round of the MAIS AAA playoffs Friday.
“We didn’t really respond the way we had been doing all year,” Cathedral coach Chuck Darbonne said.
Manchester led at the half 38-8.
Greg Moore led the Greenwave in rushing with 77 yards, which included a 46-yard run.
Quarterback Ben Foster, who was starting in place of injured starter Connor Mire, threw for 98 yards and one touchdown.
“We are dealing with a lot of injuries this year,” Darbonne said. “We just had some guys that missed assignments, some guys that were out of position.”
Cathedral finishes the year with a 3-8 mark.
