ACCS set to host St. Aloysius

The start of the 2016 season was not ideal for the Adams County Christian School football team, but head coach David King is clear he won’t make excuses.
But for a team that didn’t play a jamboree and lost its first two games to AAAA schools, King said he noticed new players displaying a grasp of the playbook and the deep and dynamic ACCS offense is beginning to approach mid-season form.
“We really saw some strides in this last week of developing a grasp of who we will be offensively,” King said. “As the season goes and we get more and more comfortable, we’ll be able to cause some problems.”
ACCS looks to keep the momentum going Friday when it hosts St. Aloysius (0-5).
“They’re new to our league, but we had a good ball game with them last year,” King said. “They’ve played everybody close … they’re capable and well coached.”
St. Al does have a bright spot with Natchez ties. Ben Brown is a three-star offensive lineman and Ole Miss commitment. Brown’s grandfather, Allen Brown, is a Natchez native and veteran of Super Bowl I.
“He’s a fine man and an outstanding ballplayer just like his dad and uncle and grandfather were,” King said. “We like to play the best, and he’s one of the best in the state.”
