Cathedral High School is aiming for back-to-back wins for the first time this season when the Greenwave travel to face MAIS AAAA opponent Parklane Academy tonight.
“(Parklane) seems to be an up-and-down team,” Cathedral head coach Chuck Darbonne said. “They started the season well, then ran into two AAAA schools, and I understand that pain.”
Cathedral (2-2) was victorious in its only away game against St. Aloysius, but lost to its last AAAA opponent, Jackson Prep, two weeks ago.
Darbonne said Parklane (2-2) has depth that will carry over to next season, after playing several sophomores last season.
“They have a good junior class,” Darbonne said. “Ninety-five percent of their starters are juniors, and they are big and physical.”
Darbonne said Cathedral will have to protect the football and capitalize on opportunities when presented.
“We have to be efficient with the ball,” Darbonne said. “We have to grind it out and get first downs.”
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
