Franklin County High School is coming off a 38-6 win over Loyd Star, but head coach Trey Woodard said the win was far from perfect.
Franklin County’s (2-2) fairly balanced offense posted a passing attack of 197 yards led by quarterback De’Martre Collins, but the rushing attack piled on 352 yards.
Woodard said his team is still searching for an identity while building up some young players as it prepares for Lawrence County High School Friday.
“We don’t really have a strong suit this season,” Woodard said. “We have to keep focused and keep trying to get better this week.”
Lawrence County is still seeking its first win of the season. The MHSAA Class 4A Cougars are 0-4, nursing wounds from a 21-19 lost to Prentiss High School.
“Lawrence County is a well-coached team,” Woodard said. “They are much better than their record shows.”
With a 2-2 record, Woodard said he is trying to get his team as best prepared before it enters region play in two weeks.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
