Hornstein-Mitchell

Hayley Marie Mitchell and Owen Merle Hornstein III were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Saint Louis Cathedral in New Orleans. The Rev. Vinh Luu and deacon David Warriner Jr. officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Desmond Mitchell. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Harlan Mitchell and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Joseph Kountz Jr. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Merle Hornstein Jr. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Owen Merle Hornstein and the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Charles Winstell.

The bride wore a 1920s-era sheath style wedding gown of ivory French lace over champagne colored double layer charmeuse. The lace was delicately hand-beaded, pearled, interspersed with bands of beading and the waist was cinched with a Swarovski crystal and seed-pearl belt. The scalloped cathedral veil, adorned with finely beaded trim along edge, extended beyond the Tiffany train. She carried a full bouquet of white, ivory and pale blush garden roses, gardenias, ranunculus and camellias accented with greenery and magnolia leaves.

The bride was attended by her matron of honor Mary Grace Gilbert, maid of honor Taylor Hill, bridesmaids Claire Huff, Shelley Joiner, Presley Keller and flower girl Madelyn Joiner.

The groom was attended by his best man Charles LaVoy, groomsmen Andrew Bryan, Michael Gilbert, Henry Hornstein, Kevin Hughes, Chase Laukhuff, James Roe, ushers Todd Campbell, David LeBlanc, Mark Williams and ring bearer Mason Joiner.

Scripture readers were Todd Campbell and David LeBlanc. Gift bearers were Robert and Barbara Hornstein. Greeters were Crystal Clem and Dawn Roe.

Following the Nuptial Mass, a reception was at Gallier Hall and music was provided by Louisiana Spice. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Tableau Restaurant. The couple honeymooned in Playa Mujeres, Mexico, and reside in New Orleans.

The bride is a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy in Baton Rouge and Nicholls State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in culinary arts. She is director of catering at Michael’s Catering in New Orleans. The groom is a graduate of Cathedral High School in Natchez and the University of New Orleans, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in film and theatre arts. He is a photographer at WDSU in New Orleans.
