NATCHEZ — One of the Natchez Police Department’s two K-9 dogs has been missing since Thursday after the dog broke the leash he was tied up with at a K-9 officer’s residence on Palestine Road.
Chief Daniel White said he learned of the dog’s disappearance Saturday when K-9 officer Brian Seyfarth reported the dog could not be located.
The dog is a male German shepherd, black in color with tan coloring on his feet. The dog’s name is Cyrax and was last seen wearing a silver choke collar.
White said he sent additional officers to the area to search for Cyrax, but the dog was still missing as of 6 p.m. Saturday.
Anyone who spots Cyrax should contact NPD at 601-445-5565 or Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.
While White said the dog is fairly gentle, NPD asks residents to call police if they spot Cyrax rather than try to catch him.
