McComb High School freshman arrested after bomb threat

MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say a McComb High School freshman is being held in a juvenile detention center after a prank bomb threat on Wednesday — the fifth day of the school year — resulted in his arrest.

McComb School District safety officer Greg Gilmore tells the Enterprise-Journal (http://bit.ly/2bbKYlw) a 14-year-old boy allegedly called in a bomb threat to 911 from the high school about 9 a.m.

Gilmore says officers identified the caller and arrested him by 10:50 a.m.

Detective Deska Varnado said the student is charged with false reporting of a bomb or explosive device of mass destruction and disturbance of a school session.

The youth was being held at the Adams County Juvenile Detention Center in Natchez has a court appearance set for Monday.
