NATCHEZ — The Woman to Woman Ministry at First Baptist Church is gearing up to host its annual women’s conference on Aug. 13.
Event organizer Jerry New said she is excited about the conference because it will be hosted on a Saturday rather than a Thursday or Sunday evening as in years past and because Alicia Williamson Garcia will serve as speaker.
Garcia and her husband Richard Garcia of Mobile, Ala., founded in 2002 IN Worship, a discipleship ministry of media and worship events, including television, radio, conferences, seminars, and in-depth Bible studies.
Organizer Carolyn Ridley said she thinks the conference is going to be a wonderful way to kick off the church’s revival, which will begin the next day.
“As our church prepares for one of the first revivals we have had in awhile, we wanted to take advantage of this time with Alicia to prepare and turn our hearts to The Lord,” Ridley said. “Special things happen when God moves and revives the hearts of women.”
New believes the conference will help bring people together and said inspiring unity is one of the reasons the church continues to host events such as the women’s conference.
“Our desire is to grow closer to God and one another,” New said. “We know that God will use this time to draw us closer to Him. We are expecting wonderful things to take place in the hearts of each woman who attends.”
The conference is free and open to the public, and the following day begins a four-day long revival at the church.
The conference — titled “Revive Me Oh Lord Woman 2 Woman Retreat” — is set for 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 13 at First Baptist Church.
