VIDALIA — Qualifying for four Concordia Parish offices opened Wednesday and will close today at 4:30 p.m.
Chief Deputy Clerk of Court Rebecca Zerby said positions open locally are Vidalia city judge, Vidalia city court marshal, District 1 justice of the peace and Town of Ridgecrest alderman.
So far, no one has filed for the justice of the peace position, and the other position boasts candidates running unopposed.
Scott McLemore, who is running as a Republican, filed on Wednesday for Vidalia city judge. Judge George Murray is retiring from the position.
Jim Boren, running as an independent, filed Thursday for Vidalia City Court Marshal. Boren has served in the office since 2006.
Connie Adair, running as an independent, filed Wednesday for Ridgecrest alderman. A vacancy on the board appeared when Jamie Harrison moved out of the area and resigned.
Ridgecrest voters will also be presented with a referendum authorizing the mayor to appoint a town marshal who will serve as the police chief.
Qualifying fees are $75 for city judge, marshal and justice of the peace. Fees are $40 to qualify as an alderman for Ridgecrest.
Registering as a Republican or Democrat doubles the fee.
The vote will coincide with the Nov. 8 presidential election.
