VIDALIA — Two men were arrested for allegedly threatening a Vidalia man with a firearm Sunday evening at the man’s Azalea Street residence.
Samuel D. Corban, 38, 3160 Salem Road, Parrotsville, Tenn., and Devin R. Wheeler, 20, 38 Deer Lake Road, Natchez, were both arrested shortly after making the threat and charged with carrying of weapons and possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of schedule II drugs.
Corban was also charged with two counts of failure to appear in court.
Vidalia Police Department Capt. Frankie Carroll said Corban and Wheeler are alleged to have entered the residence with a female who sometimes spends the night at the Azalea Street residence, Carroll said.
Corban, with a 9-millimeter handgun visible in his waistband, is alleged to have threatened to kill the two males at the residence.
After being threatened, one of the male victims ran from the house. Corban and Wheeler walked out to chase the man but the two ultimately entered a gold Chevrolet Malibu and fled the scene, Carroll said.
Carroll said officers found Corban and Wheeler at Budget Inn in Vidalia Sunday evening. Police searched the room and reportedly found the handgun hidden under a mattress. A small amount of suspected crystal meth and a glass pipe were also reportedly located in the room, Carroll said.
Corban and Wheeler were both held Monday at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail on $56,250 bonds.
