JONESVILLE — A Jonesville man died Wednesday after a single-vessel boating collision on Little River.
Howard R. Ivey, 56, was boating on the Little River in Catahoula Parish when his 16-foot vessel ran aground at approximately 12:45 p.m.
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents said Ivey was apparently northbound on the Black River when he turned into the Little River, colliding with the land on the northern shore at the river’s mouth.
Ivey was ejected from the vessel when it ran aground.
He suffered severe injuries from the ejection and landed partially in the river, officials said.
Ivey was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Catahoula Parish Coroner’s Office is investigating to determine an official cause of death.
The matter remains under investigation by the LDWF.
