NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was arrested early Friday morning after allegedly shooting at a house on East Dumas Drive.
Carl S. Jenkins, 19, no address provided, was arrested Friday for shooting into a dwelling and for contempt of court for failure to pay fines for simple assault.
Natchez Police Department Chief Daniel White said police received a disturbance call from the resident, who was not injured in the shooting, at approximately 2:24 a.m. Friday and the officer arrived at 2:27 a.m. to catch Jenkins driving away after allegedly shooting the house once, hitting the hinge on the door.
White said another man who was with Jenkins when he was arrested has not been charged.
Officers recovered a .22-caliber rifle in the Chrysler, White said.
Jenkins was held in the Natchez City Jail on a $20,000 bond.
