The time to get involved is now

Yes, it’s our party, and you can cry if you want to. As for me, I choose not to. I choose to get involved and make a difference. I, like most of you, have been busy working, taking care of family and going to church. But the things happening around us lately have awakened me. I can no longer sit back and trust those who we have elected to take care of business. Sure, there are still some elected officials who are looking out for our best interest, but they are getting fewer and farther between.

We have done our part over the years going to the polls, voting for who we think are best to represent us and then going back to business as usual. We can’t continue going back to business as usual and leaving those who we have chosen unaccountable. These elected officials work for us and serve us, not themselves.

I decided to get involved by participating in the Adams County Republican caucus. I didn’t even know Mississippi had a caucus until a week before. I went to the precinct where I vote at and was elected to be a delegate. Later that day, I went to the courthouse and was elected to go to Jackson to be one of three to represent the voters of Adams County.

There were very few times in our country’s history that rose to the level of dropping tools and leaving our livelihood behind for a cause. A time of that importance is fast approaching. I’m thankful that for now we can take up our cause by just getting involved.
