Saturday will be a Lake St. John Boat Poker Run. This event is sponsored by the residents of Lake St. John to benefit the community with fireworks July 2. This date is the annual Independence Day celebration with the Flotilla. For those of you that do not know about the Flotilla, it is a parade on water with the grand finale a spectacular array of fireworks.
The Lake St. John Poker Run begins at The Dock, located at 4301 Louisiana 568, on beautiful Lake St. John in Ferriday. Registration is 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at The Dock. Registration is $25 per poker hand. For an additional $25, a player can purchase a sixth card which will be a “Wild Card” that can be used to make the best hand with the four of the five cards drawn at the piers. There is a limit of one “Wild Card” per hand. Only five cards can be played for the best hand, in other words, four cards received from the piers plus the “Wild Card.” To purchase “Wild Cards” please do so at the time of your registration.
This is a non-guided boat run. The piers in this Boat Poker Run are:
-Noon-12:45 p.m. at Chester Hoover’s pier

-2 to 2:45 p.m. at Newt Willis’ pier
-3 to 3:45 p.m. at Boo Mims’ pier
-4 to 4:45 p.m. at Gordon Brown’s pier
