Festival of Music, pie party top weekend

NATCHEZ — A few storms may visit Natchez this weekend, but so will lots of fun events.
High temperatures will be in the lower 80s and lows in the upper 60s throughout the weekend.
Friday will have a 56-percent chance of rain, Saturday a 60-percent chance and Monday a 40-percent chance.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected Saturday.
Tai Chi classes
Free Tai Chi classes will be offered in the park 8 a.m. every Saturday through July in Memorial Park on Main Street in Natchez.
The classes are open to all experience levels, from beginner to expert. Participants should wear comfortable clothes.
““Life is a Balancing Act,” A Tai Chi program for seniors, will be offered 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. today at Armstrong Library on Commerce Street.
Natchez Community Cancer Tennis Tournament
Local tennis players are invited to participate in a tennis tournament at Duncan Park to benefit cancer research.
The Natchez Community Tennis Association is hosting the event to benefit the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
Each match consists of two sets with a 10-point super tie-breaker for the third set. Participants are guaranteed two matches, weather permitting.
The tournament will begin 3 p.m. Friday and resume 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Registration is $35 per person per event, $10 for guest of entrant or a $25 social-only fee per couple.
The fee includes breakfast Saturday and Sunday and a hamburger lunch on Saturday, as well as a courtside get-together 6 p.m. Friday and a cocktail party 8 p.m. Saturday at Twin Oaks.

“A Celebration of
Champions”
The Natchez Festival of Music will host “A Celebration of Champions,” a fundraiser reception honoring festival organizers and supporters Mary Lessley and David Paradise, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at The Towers of Natchez, located at 801 Myrtle Ave.

Humane Society pie party
The Natchez Humane Society will have a pie party fundraiser 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Landsdowne, located at 17 Marshall Road in Natchez.
Plenty of savory and sweet pies will be served, and a cash bar is available.
The event will include an auction of local art and vacation packages.
Tickets are $25 at the door.
