NATCHEZ — Today is the last day to cast an absentee ballot for the City of Natchez’s Ward 4 alderman runoff election.

The city clerk’s office will continue to accept absentee ballots from Ward 4 voters until noon today at its office located at 124 S. Pearl St.

The Democratic candidate for Ward 4 alderman will be decided Tuesday in a runoff election between Joseph Gunning and Felicia Irving. In the May 10 primary, Gunning won 32 percent of votes, and Irving won 23 percent.

Deputy City Clerk Diane Holland said 110 ballots had been received as of Friday afternoon.

Absentee voting for the general election will begin after the runoff is certified, which Holland said could be Wednesday.
