NATCHEZ — It’s been a busy offseason for Cathedral High School, and it got a little busier Thursday.
Athletic Director Craig Beesley confirmed Matthew Hall will coach boys basketball starting in the 2016-17 season. Hall is a 2006 graduate of Cathedral and a former letterman on the Green Wave basketball team.
“I’m really excited to be able to come back to Cathedral, a place and school that I love,” Hall said.
Hall takes over for Peter Arnold, who coached the Green Wave boys’ girls’ varsity and junior high teams this past season. Arnold said he will continue to coach the girls team.
“This has been something that’s been coming for a long time,” Arnold said. “Now was a good time (to focus on one team).”
This is Hall’s first head coaching position. He held a team meeting Thursday to introduce himself to the players.
“Matthew is a Cathedral (graduate) and we were glad to get him back,” Beesley said. “He felt it was time for him to return. He’ll bring a lot energy to a competitive program.”
