MONTEREY — Concordia Parish Sheriff’s investigators confirmed Wednesday the body found April 29 in Monterey has been positively identified as Duell Moreland, a man who went missing a month earlier.
A Baton Rouge forensics lab positively identified the body, said Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy David Hedrick Wednesday.
Moreland, 26, went missing from his grandparents’ residence in Monterey on March 29 and remains were found a month later by his grandfather, Rufus “Buddy” Tiffee, in a bayou off of Peale Cross Road.
The sheriff’s office has named one person of interest, Hart L. Tiffee, 34, 679 Louisiana 906, who was arrested on a different charge a day after the body was found. Tiffee is a relative of Moreland’s.
Hedrick said polygraph tests were being conducted on several other persons of interest, phone records are being analyzed and witnesses continue to be interviewed.
Hedrick also said evidence collected has been sent to the state crime lab.
