NATHCEZ — Cathedral High School has hired its new head football coach.

Cathedral Principal Pat Sanguinetti confirmed the school has hired Chuck Darbonne to coach the Green Wave football team, starting in 2016.

Darbonne coached spent last season at South Panola High School in Batesville, serving as the team’s ninth-grade coach and the varsity’s quarterbacks coach.

“We’re excited to have a coach in place. We’re ready to move forward and get him started as soon as possible,” Sanguinetti said.

South Panola varsity squad boasted a 2015 overall record of 11-1 and a 7-0 Region 1-6A record.

Darbonne replaces former Cathedral coach Ron Rushing, who accepted a head coaching position at Brookhaven Academy last month.
