MONTEREY — An investigation into the whereabouts of a Monterey man reported missing March 30 continues with Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies searching and now seeking the public’s help.

Sandra Tiffee said her grandson, Duell Steven Moreland, 26, had been living with her and his grandfather, Rufus “Buddy” Tiffee. On March 29, Moreland had been at the residence when his grandfather went to sleep at 10:30 p.m., but he was gone in the morning.

“He had come into contact with several people that night,” she said. “You don’t know how worrying this is — he never went more than two days without contacting us.

Tiffee said Moreland does not have a vehicle and his cell phone was left at her house.

Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy David Hedrick said air support and mounted patrol have been utilized during this search to no avail.

“What gives us great concern is that he has not been in contact with the family since then,” he said. “We have been conducting an investigation as a missing person due to some statements we have been receiving from the public as we have been investigating this.”

Hedrick asked anyone with information on Moreland to call investigator John Cowan with the sheriff’s office at 318-336-5231.
