Moore approved for for professorship at UMMC

JACKSON — Dr. LaToya R. Moore’s recommendation for promotion to professor in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) was recently approved by the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s School of Health Related Professions and submitted to the Institute of Higher Learning Board in Mississippi.
A native of Natchez, Moore has been in the clinical/medical laboratory profession at UMMC for more than 20 years. She holds a bachelor of science degree in biology from Tougaloo College, a bachelor of science degree in clinical laboratory science from UMMC, and master of science and doctor of science degrees in clinical health sciences from UMMC.
Moore currently serves as the chair and program director of the MLS department. She has a number of publications and has presented her research and MLS expertise at local, state and national levels.
Moore holds professional memberships in the Mississippi Academy of Sciences, American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science, American Society for Clinical Pathologists and National Association of Professional Women. She has received the Nelson Order excellence teaching award twice as an educator at UMMC.
She and her husband Donald Moore reside in Madison County with two children, Erin Faith and Elijah. She is the daughter of Gwendolyn Ross and Lee A. Wilson, both of Adams County.
