Join us for annual Easter egg hunt Saturday

My father P.K. Ewing Jr. and WMIS Radio started the annual Miss-Lou Easter Egg Hunt, and for years, it was continued by Jim and Diana Nutters and family at WTYJ/WMIS.

After my return to Natchez, I took over the egg hunt about 22 years ago. It has been a real joy watching it grow into the biggest and best Easter hunt for many miles around.

This year, we are celebrating the 60th year for this great community event.

With the help of Coach Whitley and the Natchez recreation department, this egg hunt will have thousands of eggs and more prizes than ever before. Some eggs will contain a special number that will receive prizes.

Thanks again to many area businesses for their generous support, including WTYJ/WMIS Radio, Gary and Phyllis Small at McDonald’s of Natchez, Vidalia and Port Gibson, Rivergate Bowl, J&N Trophies, Callon Petroleum, Home Bank, Kelly’s Kids and many others too numerous to name.

This event would not be the huge success that it is today without the many area merchants’ generous support, and it is greatly appreciated.

“Jelly Bean,” our official mascot, will be on hand to pass out candy and prizes to kids. In a day and time when family events are few and far between, I take pride, along with Dallas Productions, in being able to continue this event for the families of the Miss-Lou.

So on Saturday, load the kids in the car and don’t forget the Easter baskets. The egg hunt begins at 10 am. in Duncan Park. Everyone is invited.

Children ages 1 to 8 are welcome to hunt eggs, and it is all free.

Come out and join in some good, clean family fun at the 60th annual Miss-Lou Easter Egg Hunt.
