VIDALIA — A Vidalia man was arrested Sunday in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred on Christmas Eve in Vidalia.
Kale J. Davis Jr., 21, 418 Clinton St., was arrested after an off-duty Vidalia police officer spotted him inside the Vidalia Walmart and contacted on-duty patrol officers, a Vidalia Police Department spokesperson reported in an email.
Vidalia officers pulled over the vehicle Davis was seen getting into in the Walmart parking lot late Sunday evening.
Witnesses placed Davis on the Gillespie Street scene of the shooting that happened at approximately 11 p.m., Dec. 24, 2015.
Davis was said to have been driving a white Chevrolet Tahoe that came to a stop in the middle of Gillespie Street as Davis allegedly fired multiple shots from a 12-gauge shotgun in the direction of a house in an attempt to frighten local residents, the police reported.
Witnesses reported the shooting may have been the result of an on-going feud between Davis and other Vidalia residents.
No one was reported injured in the shooting.
VPD investigators later served a search warrant at Davis’ residence and reportedly discovered approximately 84 grams of suspected synthetic marijuana and a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun that reportedly matched evidence recovered from the scene that determined the caliber of the weapon used.
Davis was charged with manufacturing and distribution of a schedule I controlled substance and illegal discharging of a firearm.
Davis was being held Sunday night at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail on a $350,000 bond.
