Cold weather did not stop good news

After a weekend of cold weather, this week should be a bit warmer as the march toward spring continues.
As is our Monday morning custom, we pause today to highlight a few of the items that we deemed as good news from last week.
– Weather was on most of our minds and in our ears last week as the skies darkened and tornado warning sirens sounded across the area. We were blessed to have avoided significant damage, but are happy for the work done to make our emergency alert system effective.
– Our hats are off and our tongues bowed for the dozens of volunteers who made the United Way of the Greater Miss-Lou’s annual jambalaya cook-off such a success this year.
– Months after the last vote was cast, Natchez resident Bob Dearing was sworn into office as senator for District 37, which includes the majority of Adams County.
– Ashton Bruce was crowned Miss Vidalia 2016 Saturday at a ceremony at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center. Congratulations to Bruce and her family.
– Leaders at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office have big plans to revamp the county’s Neighborhood Watch program. We wish them the best of luck. We’ve long known that such program can be key to engaging a community to serve as partners to law enforcement in the battle against criminals.
We hope the week ahead includes lots of good news for you and your family.
