The Concordia Parish Library is delighted to offer a concert for the Miss-Lou with The Malpass Brothers touring from Nashville! They will be performing at 7 p.m. Thursday. at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center. Come early to get a good seat and don’t miss this wonderful country western experience! Their performance is composed of the classic country tunes from all of the famous stars, including Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Porter Wagner, Charlie Pride and others. This is a big sound performance as the Malpass Brothers sing as well as play the acoustic and electric guitars accompanied by the drums, pedal steel and bass. This is an engaging concert with a magnetic time-traveling journey to when a calmer rhythm reigned supreme.

The Malpass Brothers, Christopher and Taylor, listened to the old country tunes from their grandfather’s phonograph records, so this is what the brothers became hooked on! They fell in love with this music and the lifestyle.

“This is who we are…” say The Malpass Brothers on their website. “ My brother Taylor and I do the type of music we do because this music speaks to us, and speaks to the souls of its listeners. For us, traditional country music is the ‘real deal’ — every song portrays life’s joys, heartaches, problems and happiness. It comes from the heart, and has depth and truth. Nothing is sugar coated.” Not wanting to see the music or the way of life die, the brothers have strived to see it carried on.

The Malpass Brothers signed an exclusive recording deal in 2014 with Crossroads’ Organic Records. They released their self-titled album in 2015 that was produced by the legend Doyle Lawson. This is not the only legend the Malpass Brothers have been around as they have opened for none other than Merle Haggard on multiple tours. They have also gone on tours with Don Helms, the former steel guitarist for Hank Williams. The brothers have spent time with old country singers, so they know what it truly is and can make it come back to life on stage by singing classic country tunes and dressing as if they are from the 1950s!

This program is made possible with the cooperation of the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center and “block booking” through The Louisiana Partnership for the Arts’ Presenters Network and supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as  administered by the Arts Council of Central Louisiana.

If you have missed the sounds of true country music or never experienced it before make sure to catch The Malpass Brothers when they come to town on Thursday, January, 21, 2016. The concert will be at 7 p.m. at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center located on the Mississippi River and is free and open to the public. Put on your boots and have a great evening with Concordia Parish Library!
