VIDALIA — The office at Vidalia High School will see the return of a familiar face Tuesday.
Monterey High School Assistant Principal Jana Lincecum will begin a new role as the school’s interim principal.
The move was presented to the Concordia Parish School Board at its Thursday meeting.
Lincecum will be filling the principal position currently held by Charles Anderson.
Interim School District Superintendent Loretta Blankenstein said Anderson would take on a new position.
In his new position, Anderson will be responsible for putting together all of the different test and data information from the schools and district to see what the scores are and what they need to do to improve.
“(The position is) something in the past that may not have been necessary so much, but with all the new tests and the changes in the curriculum, we really need to study where we are, where we’ve been and make plans for where we need to be,” Blankenstein said.
While Anderson fills that role, Lincecum will return to VHS. Until last year Lincecum served as assistant principal at the high school under then-Principal Rick Brown.
Lincecum was moved in a series of controversial transfers made by former Superintendent Paul Nelson at the beginning of the 2015-2016 school year. Nelson resigned last month and Blankenstein took office at the beginning of the month.
“(Lincecum) does have a lot of experience with the school, and we hope that there will be a smooth transition with the changes and that, in all of this, Vidalia High School will continue to move forward,” Blankenstein said.
Three teachers who are interested in becoming administrators will fill Lincecum’s role at Montery High School, Blankenstein said.
Patrick Wells, Bridgette Holland and Cecilia Stevens will take on the responsibilities in addition to their teaching duties.
All five are scheduled to start their interim positions Tuesday, which is a staff development day for the district.
