NATCHEZ — Reed DeSalvo has joined The Natchez Democrat as its sports editor.

A native of Baton Rouge, DeSalvo Graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University fall 2013, earning a degree in  communication with a concentration in journalism.

He previously worked as a stringer for The Baton Rouge Advocate, serving as interim beat reporter of Southern University.  He then worked as a sports reporter at The Meridian Star, and was later promoted to assistant sports editor at The Meridian Star.

He was awarded first place for best game story in 2014 in the Mississippi Press Association’s Division C of the Better Newspaper Contest.

He is the son of Vincent and Sharon DeSalvo of Baton Rouge.
