More good news as holiday approaches

With only four shopping days left until Christmas the holiday rush is likely in full swing in most local households.
As is our normal Monday custom, this morning we pause to remember some of the good news from our community last week.
• Adams County area residents showed their generosity last week when in the matter of just a few hours they donated five truckloads of food to the Natchez Stewpot as part of the county’s Pack the Pickup effort. Many thanks go to county supervisors for spearheading the effort and for the many generous donors.
• The National Park Service is partnering with area schools to help finalize what may be one of the most memorable resources of the Natchez tricentennial — the Natchez history minutes. The idea is simple — memorialize three centuries’ worth of Natchez history. We’re glad the organizers are involving our area’s youth.
• Congratulations are in order to the Friends of Our Riverfront (FOR) Natchez group. FOR Natchez has nearly reached the 50-percent mark on its fundraising campaign. The group’s goal is raise enough money to begin the start of revitalizing downtown, initially through the engagement of an expert to create a master plan for downtown.
• Concordia Parish Schools found themselves in good hands last week after the district hired former superintendent Loretta Blankenstein to serve as the district’s interim superintendent. Good luck to Blankenstein and to the district.
• Congratulations to the middle school robotics team at Delta Charter School. The team managed to claim third-place honors in the statewide robotics competition in the school’s first year to compete. We can only imagine how good the team will become over time.
We hope your week is filled with good news for you and your family.
