VIDALIA — With November almost over, the Vidalia Women’s Club is kicking off its holiday activities with a coat drive and a club fundraiser.
Today marks the start of the club’s first coat drive, an attempt to ensure every child in Concordia Parish has a coat this year.
Gently used coats and belts, in addition to new socks, can be dropped off at Lakeside Ford, Vidalia Lower Elementary, Ferriday Lower Elementary, Vidalia Junior High School, Riverfront Royale Salon, Delta Bank, Tapper’s Gas and Convenience Store, Living Well Family Clinic and Core Physical Therapy and Promise Hospital.
The coat drive ends Dec. 11.
The club is also hosting a fundraiser called “Christmas Trees on the Riverfront,” allowing organizations to become part of Vidalia’s festive holiday displays on the riverfront.
For $75, the club will set up a sign and a tree that sponsors can decorate. Sponsors will also be responsible for removing their decorations during the first week of January.
For $125, the club will set up the sign and tree as well as decorate the tree.
The club will break down trees for both options. Once the application and fee are received, the trees will go up within three days, unless delayed by bad weather.
While there is no hard deadline, the club would prefer for all information to be turned in by Dec. 6.
