NATCHEZ — Ursula S. Brooks-Ware has successfully passed a national certification exam from American Nurses Credentialing Center for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
She is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Baccalaureate Nursing at Alcorn State University. She also has a master of science degree in nursing education. She has been a registered nurse for 11 years.
“There was a diverse need for mental health services within our community and I have a passion for the mentally incapacitated population,” Brooks Ware said of her decision to become a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. “These clients are often overlooked and underserved. I previously worked on and managed a psychiatric unit and there’s nothing more rewarding than restoring an individual holistically – mind, body, and soul. God has been with me throughout this journey and my daily prayer is for him to strengthen me so that I can help someone else.”
Brooks-Ware is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Brooks Jr. and of Wilbur and Hazel Washington. She is married to Bradrick E. Ware and together they have three children, Gervoni E. Ware, Brandi S. Ware and Kobyn LeTroy Moore.
