NATCHEZ — On Monday, the Natchez-Adams School District launched an online survey asking community members for feedback about the district.
“We do not want to plan alone, so we need the feedback of our parents, students and community to help us plan,” NASD Public Relations Coordinator Steven Richardson said.
The eight-question survey asks participants about topics such as where they live, how satisfied they are with the district’s progress and how they feel about the new academies concept.
The new academies concept, Richardson said, refers to Morgantown Art, Leadership and College Prep academies, as well as Natchez Freshman Academy and Natchez Early College Academy.
“This survey is just another opportunity for those who are concerned to give their feedback,” Richardson said.
The survey is not the first the district has fielded this year. During the November board meeting, Richardson revealed the results of an anonymous employee survey.
Of the approximately 600 people employed by the district, 290 participated in the survey.
One of the questions was how motivated employees were to see the district succeed. More than 80 percent said they were very motivated.
“We have feedback from employees,” Richardson said. “Now we’re waiting on feedback from parents and students, and now we want feedback from the community.”
A survey for students is also available through a link provided to them and on the district’s website. Parents, Richardson said, will receive an automated call with a short survey.
Richardson said the parents’ survey was reduced to seven questions from approximately 40 last year. Although there are fewer questions, Richardson said they are about the “meat and potatoes” of how parents feel about their children’s schools and the district.
“They won’t have to expect the same questions from last year,” Richardson said.
The amount of surveying, Richardson said, is increasing from 2014-2015. The goal is to gauge the thoughts, concerns and general feedback from stakeholders early in the year instead of waiting until the end, Richardson said.
More surveys will follow in the second half of the year to see progress.
The survey can be found on the NASD website under “Resources for Parents And Students” under the name “Community Survey 2015-16 (Start)” or by visiting:
