Give thanks for week of good news

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving Week. As is our long tradition on Mondays, we pause today to highlight some of the good news headlines from our community over the last week.
-Members of the local community did a rare thing Saturday; they sat around the table and shared their life experiences about race. The local chapter of Mission Mississippi led the discussion. Mission Mississippi is a nonprofit, Christian organization that aims to help the state overcome its racial issues by encouraging open, honest dialogue.
-Congratulations are in order for the Wilkinson County Christian Academy football program after it won the state championship in its division. We know WCCA’s players, coaches, parents and fans are extremely proud of the team’s accomplishments and we’re proud for them all as well.
-Alcorn State University claimed the Southwest Athletic Conference East Division football title Saturday with a win over Alabama A&M University. Congratulations to the Braves who will soon face Grambling State University in the SWAC championship.
-The area was blessed to make it through the rough weather that passed through our community last week and come out mostly unscathed.
As you prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving Day later this week, we hope your week is filled with lots of good news.
