NATCHEZ — Police have little information following an incident during which a Natchez man was apparently shot Friday.
Natchez Police Detective Jerry Ford said officers discovered the man had been shot after they began following the car he was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed on North Union Street.
“He was heading to his residence … and when he stopped and got out, that’s when officers saw he had been shot,”
The man had been shot in the stomach, but reportedly refused to cooperate with police and provide details of what happened, Ford said.
An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, Ford said. The man’s injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
Anyone with any information about the shooting should call Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.
Crime Stoppers is an anonymous tip line that offers up to a $1,000 reward for a tip leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect.
