VIDALIA — Most folks dread yard work. That is why people put off picking up the leaves and washing the car until the weather is perfect.

But working with Sienna, 9, and Alina Ewing, 5, is far from a chore.

“They make everything fun,” said their mother Emily Ewing.

When The Dart landed on Apple Street in Vidalia on Saturday, Sienna and Alina were cleaning father Jeremy Ewing’s truck.

As a family, they had already cleaned Emily’s car and raked the front yard.

Sienna and Alina have always been able to have fun regardless of the situation, their mother said.

“They put on plays for us and play imaginary games with each other,” Emily said. “They love to play outside.”

The parents said they never cease to be amazed by their children’s ability to amuse themselves.

“It’s great because it’s just about all we can afford,” joked Jeremy.

“It’s cool seeing how active their imaginations are,” Emily said.

Despite their age difference, the sisters have always been very close.

“It’s probably because we made them share a room,” Emily said.

“They get along really well,” Jeremy said. “They’re the best of friends.”

While Sienna would not go quite that far when describing their relationship, she may be downplaying it a bit.

“We’re friends,” she said. “But sometimes we’re not.”

On the door to their room is a sign that Sienna made which reads, “Sister by chance, friends by choice.”

In fact, the two are nearly inseparable at home and are always helping each other have a good time.

In the middle of cleaning the truck, Alina turned the garden hose on Sienna catching her off guard and soaking her clothes.

Instead of anger, Sienna responded with laughter.

“I’ve gotten used to her,” she said. “She is always joking around.”

“But it is just to make the people around her happy.”
