DELHI, La. — Despite having last week’s game against Tensas High go as planned, Delta Charter head coach Jarrett Hoffpauir saw something from his team that he wanted — fight.
The Storm scored 24 second half points in the contest, and Hoffpauir said he hopes his team can pick up right where they left off in tonight’s game against Delhi Charter.
“I hope we can carry over from the second half we had last week into this game,” Hoffpauir said. “We had an OK week of practice and we are doing the same deal, just trying to get better every week.”
The Storm will have their hands full this week against a Delhi Charter team that runs for nearly 300 yards per game.
“They run the dive option pretty heavy,” Hoffpauir said. “It is just a matter of having to tackle, get aggressive and play fundamental football. Everybody has to know their assignment.”
On the flip side, Hoffpauir said the Gators run a similar scheme to the Storm.
“It is like a 4-2-5, with a strong safety type guy,” Hoffpauir said. “They blitz heavy and like to send mostly outside linebackers, so we have had to make some adjustments. Offensively we worked on things to just try and slow them down.”
The Storm are looking to snap a five game losing skid, while Delhi Charter hopes to add to a three game winning streak.
Delta Charter and Delhi Charter are scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
