NATCHEZ — Three Natchez men left 35 Beaumont St. in handcuffs Tuesday morning after Natchez Police raided the residence, allegedly finding four forms of illegal drugs and one weapon.

Natchez Police Detective Jerry Ford said approximately 10 officers entered the house at approximately 10 a.m.

When they entered the residence, Ford said officers found 94 individually packed bags of marijuana, one 46-gram bag of mojo spice, four unidentified white pills and one crushed white pill, 3.5 grams of crystal meth and a Smith & Wesson .40-cal. pistol.

Devarte Frazier, 23, 27 Beaumont St., was in the residence at the time of the raid and was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled illegal substance and resisting an officer.

Ford said Carlos Owens, 33, 145 Wickcliff Road, and Tyrone Noble, 19, 27 Beaumont St., were also in the residence at the time, but were arrested on trespassing charges. Owens and Noble had no illegal drugs in their possession when officers arrived, Ford said.

Ford said he had received a few tips from residents about illegal activity going on at the residence.

“It’s one of the problem areas residents had been complaining about with loitering and drug traffic,” Ford said.

Beaumont Street was also the scene of two drive-by shootings — one on Sept. 25 and another on Oct. 6.

Ford said he believes the shootings were linked to the drug activity going on at the residence where Tuesday’s raid occurred.

“Our aim is to get as much of these drugs off the street that we can,” he said.

Ford said the police department would continue to heavily patrol Beaumont Street.

“We’ve been having so many complaints about that area,” Ford said. “We will continue to target that area and combat those problems. We want to send a message that those kinds of things are not tolerated here.”
