RAYVILLE — Dropped balls and penalties did not lend any favors for the Ferriday Trojans in a 52-28 loss to the Rayville Hornets Friday night.
“We had a bunch of opportunities, actually had some pretty good drives,” Ferriday head coach Dwight Woods said. “We just didn’t make the plays we were supposed to make. We’re not going to make any excuses. They showed up and made the plays when they had to. We didn’t.”
The miscues opened the door for Rayville to mount long drives with its uptempo offense, leading to multiple scoring opportunities throughout the night. The miscues became too much to overcome for the Trojans.
“When we clean up one aspect, we start slacking in another,” assistant coach Slick Matthews said. “It felt like we had 20 dropped balls tonight.”
In the loss, Ferriday wide receivers Ja’Shon Foster and Dantrieze Scott scored touchdowns, while running backs Malik Hampton and Ronald Davis found the end zone, as well.
With the loss, Ferriday falls to 3-3 and 0-1 in district play.
