Trinity looks to bounce back

NATCHEZ — Following a 43-0 shutout against Porter’s Chapel, the Trinity Episcopal Day School Saints received a wake up call last week in a 30-27 loss to Amite School Center.
The loss dropped the Saints to 1-4 overall, but more importantly to 0-1 in district play.
“It humbled us a bit, and we realized we aren’t that good and we have to do more than show up to win a game,” Trinity head coach Zach Rogel said.
The tests don’t get any easier, though, as Trinity hits the road this week to take on Riverdale Academy.
Although the Saints may possess more talent than the Rebels, Rogel and his team enter the game somewhat blind.
“Their coach told me they don’t exchange film, so we haven’t been able to show our kids anything,” he said. “We ound some old film from Week 1 or 2, but don’t even know if it is the same team.”
What Rogel does know, though, is the Rebels are struggling in an area that is familiar to the Saints, numbers.
“We know they are down to 19 and had to forfeit because of numbers earlier this year,” Rogel said.
So without much information, Rogel turned the team’s attention to themselves and to fixing what fell apart last week against Amite School Center.
“Our fundamentals are really bad, and we need to play together to win games,” Rogel said. “We played a team that wasn’t necessarily more talented, they just wanted it more. We have to start doing that.”
The Rebels and Saints are scheduled for a 7 p.m.
